Non-formal education sector for children and young people
Description of the evolution from childcare to non-formal education for children and young people, and of the services and organisations that make up the field of non-formal education today, by observing how and along what dimensions the themes are constituted and transformed in Luxembourg (historical, pedagogical, societal vs. child-centred approaches, etc.).
Systematic documentation and collection of quantitative and qualitative data on non-formal education in order to establish a knowledge and data base of this specific part of the Luxembourg educational landscape, paying particular attention to factors favourable to equal opportunities and social cohesion :
– analyses of changes in the situation of users of education and childcare provision in order to highlight the needs of children and families (child-centred approach);
– systematic data collection and description of (historical) developments and current changes in providers to meet the needs of professionals and target groups (sustainable development approach);
– an analysis of the structural, functional and conceptual elements inherent in measures for planning, steering and developing quality and professionalism in non-formal education (systemic and comparative approach).
