Preparing young people for the challenges of the 21st century

As the world is constantly changing, particularly as a result of the development of information and communication technologies, schools are constantly faced with new challenges of adaptation and transformation. It is vital to develop a common vision for the school system, i.e. to determine the key skills that will be needed to prepare young people to meet the challenges of the 21st century and to discuss the advisability of implementing the key 21st century skills into a national curriculum. Beyond essential cognitive skills,  the focus should also be on inter- and intrapersonal skills, adopting a holistic approach aimed at developing enlightened, committed, autonomous, and responsible citizens capable of addressing complex societal challenges.
