Third seminar for contemporary witnesses in the “ChildLux”-project

On Friday, 13 March, the third witness seminar took place as part of the “ChildLux” project, which aims to reconstruct the history of day care for children and youth protection in Luxembourg.

Organised by the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH) in partnership with the OEJQS, the event this time brought together experts and professionals to discuss field practices in youth protection since the 1970s.

Testimonies, professional narratives and critical discussions helped to better understand the evolution and changes in the living realities of the children and young people concerned, the challenges and hardships they experienced, as well as the concrete experiences of professionals.
The panel broadened the perspective by bringing together the viewpoints of representatives from child welfare services and professionals from other fields, including law enforcement and social paediatrics.

Many thanks to the participants Ms Petra Böwen, Ms Joëlle Ludewig, Mr Jean Schoos, Dr Roland Seligman, Mr Camille Weydert, as well as to the moderator Prof. Christian Schröder.

The project includes further seminars and interviews covering the two thematic areas of childcare and the protection of children and young people. Different types of publications (e.g. a scientific report and audiovisual productions) will make the contemporary history of these topics accessible and help address the current lack of documentation.
