The Observatoire participated in the London International Conference on Inclusive Education 2026
How do different education systems organise support for pupils with special educational needs – and what can they learn from one another?
This week, Martine Frising and Anne-Marie Muller presented their work at the London International Conference on Inclusive Education (LICIE), hosted by UCL IOE Centre for Inclusive Education. It was the second year the Observatory has contributed to the conference.
The presentation offered a system-level overview of how support for pupils with specific needs is organised across Luxembourg’s public primary schools. It was based on national administrative data covering the full school population and used descriptive and correlational analyses.
LICIE 2026 brought together researchers, practitioners and policymakers from around the world – including colleagues from the European Agency for Special Needs and Inclusive Education (EASNIE) – to compare how different countries organise their support systems and share innovative approaches to inclusive education.
Inclusive education follows no single trajectory. It takes shape as a complex, context-dependent process – which is precisely what makes comparison across systems so valuable.
