Second seminar for contemporary witnesses in the ChildLux-project
On 10 November 2025, the second seminar for contemporary witnesses in the “ChildLux”-project took place, with the aim of reconstructing the history of both childcare and youth protection in Luxembourg. Organised by the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH) in partnership with the OEJQS, this event brought together experts and professionals to discuss the major societal, political, social and educational developments in youth protection since the 1970s.
Testimonies, professional narratives and critical discussions not only captured relevant insights into the continuities and dynamics of change over the past fifty years, but also contributed to a deeper understanding of the challenges currently facing the youth protection sector in Luxembourg, particularly at a time when significant legislative reforms are forthcoming. The seminar moderated by Mr Christian Schröder, featured the following participants: Ms Anne Brasseur, Ms Ulla Peters, Ms Valérie Dupong, Mr Nico Meisch and Mr René Schmit.
The “ChildLux”-project will include further seminars and interviews focusing on the two key aspects of childcare and child and youth protection. Various types of publications (e.g. scientific reports, audiovisual productions) will make the contemporary history of these subjects accessible in order to fill the current documentary void.
