Focus On: Außerschulische Interventionen bei Kindern und Jugendlichen mit Verhaltensauffälligkeiten – Context matters

This report is the second of a total of three OEJQS publications on educational and psychosocial support of children and adolescents with socio-emotional needs. An initial thematic report (School matters, OEJQS, 2025) examines schools within the general education system as the primary setting for the assessment and intervention this target population, while simultaneously concluding that effective support cannot be provided exclusively by and within schools alone.

This second report in the series (Context matters) expands this perspective to out-ofschool interventions and examines their effectiveness in the domains of mental health (psychotherapy), child and youth welfare, youth protection, and justice.

The findings indicate that the effectiveness of interventions depends less on the individual measure itself than on its appropriateness, the quality of its implementation, and its embedment within a coordinated support system.
