Violence against children and young adults

The aim of this project is to analyse the situation of children and young adults in relation to violence in Luxembourg and to evaluate the systems that affect them. The project’s target population is children aged 0 to under 18, and young people aged 18 to 30.

The aim of the project is to :

  • analyse the situation of children and young people faced with violence (sociological, psychological, educational and legal aspects) and shed light on the hidden face of violence in the target group in order to promote a better understanding of the phenomenon of violence in Luxembourg,
  • to take stock of the provisions and measures already in place to combat violence and identify the challenges and needs of children in order to better protect them against violence, and to make recommendations in this regard (e.g. guidelines drawn up by the International Telecommunication Union); and
  • identify gaps and the need for additional knowledge on violence. The information gathered is the starting point for the Observatory’s future work and projects on the subject of violence.
