The impact of rapidly emerging artificial intelligence technologies on learning, teaching and assessment
The OEJQS is conducting a study on the development and implementation of a national strategy for artificial intelligence (AI) in education. The project focuses on the transformations these technologies bring to learning processes, as well as to teaching and assessment methods.
The main objective is to analyse such a strategy through key aspects, including:
- students’ ability to analyse and interpret the data generated by AI, and to use AI tools in a relevant and targeted way;
- teachers’ capacity to design and implement teaching and assessment activities adapted to the opportunities and challenges presented by AI technologies;
- a basic understanding of how AI works, alongside the preservation – and ideally the enhancement – of human agency, enabling critical interpretation as well as informed and effective use of AI-generated responses and solutions;
- the legal, regulatory, ethical and societal issues associated with the integration of AI into courses.
In order to identify the components and goals of an AI integration strategy in education, the associated opportunities and risks and the conditions for its effective implementation, the study will combine an analysis of existing strategies and reference frameworks with a review of national and international survey data. These findings will be further enriched by exploratory interviews with practitioners, policymakers, business representatives and AI experts. The study results will be compared with MENJE’s achievements within the framework of the “KI-Kompass” project.
